My time in Sandpoint, Idaho

April 23, 2008 Freda's Blog

Here I am in Sandpoint, Idaho, just a few days before I will be heading back to Spring Quarterly this weekend. I have had a rather restful time here. I have not been outside since last October, when I made an appearance at the final Farmers Market, "Harvest-Fest''. The children loved me there.

But I am getting ahead of myself; let me tell you about my experiences over the last 6 months!

Coming to Sandpoint last Fall after Quarterly was very pleasant. Our drive East was on a lovely day, and we stopped a number of times to rest and view the scenery. I saw a lot of people stop and look at me as I sat in the back seat. When we arrived at the Sandpoint Friends Meeting House, I was carried inside and set on a low table covered with a lovely fabric, just inside the door so I could greet people as they came in.

A few days later, my hosts held a '' Welcome, Freda!" reception for me, so I got to meet some folks here. That Sunday, I was placed in the middle of the circle so I could be a part of Worship. Early in October, I was taken to the Farmer's Market that I mentioned before.

It has been fun to see the different groups that have come into the Meeting House for gatherings. So many people have come up to me to '' pet'' my feathers, to read my ''Peace'' messages, and to look through my notebook. Some of the children drew pictures for me, after they talked about me in First Day School. One member, who is totally blind, created a ''new feather'' for me in Braille that of course, said ''Peace''. Braille is a ''language'' you know.

On Christmas Eve, again I was placed in the middle of the circle for our Candlelight Worship Service. The pretty silver and gold garlands around my neck sparkled as they reflected the light of all the candles around me. Once again, the message of PEACE ON EARTH was spoken in Silence and in Words, and then they sang.

Then, the snow started! It snowed, and snowed, and snowed all winter. There was so much snow everywhere. I heard my hosts talking about record amounts of snow this year! I am so glad I didn't have to go out in the cold. Carrying me would also have been difficult, so it was decided to keep me safe inside. A few weeks ago, there was another fun event here in the Meeting House when folk-singer Tom Rawson came to visit us for a benefit concert. He was surprised to see me there and said ''Hi!" to me as he petted my feathers!

So now, I am getting ready to head back to Quarterly for my next visit to another Meeting. Where will I go next?

I would like to host Freda in the home of the atomic bomb factory, Richland, Washington. Talk about a conversation starter! In May we have lovely outdoor concerts in a city park. Lots of children attend, and I would like to engage their parents in discussions of peace. Might Freda be able to visit our state's dry side in the Spring?

I believe Freda is at Bellingham meeting now. I will check that out. Thanks for your interest in where she can go next. She usually changes locations at Quarterly Meeting.

Freda returned to Port Townsend today (Sunday, April 25th, 2010) after visiting Spring Quarterly Meeting at Lazy F in Ellensburg this weekend. She had been in Bellingham for awhile before that.

If you have been really researching for helpful facts concerning Thoi trang nu, then we feel this article may be what you are looking for. There have been a lot of times when I have wanted to find out more, but I was not all that sure where to check. The funny part, perhaps, is there is enough content on the net, but you are still not sure if the resources are trustworthy. That is one thing every person who has looked for information has encountered. The following information concerning this specific topic is recognized and easily referenced.

The general difficulties of women's and men's fashion

Both women and men can have the demands of maintaining their wardrobe up-to-date and in season, yet men's style usually feels a lot simpler. Of course, for both sexes, clothes and style choices can be quite as complex, and there are lots of'cool'items that can easily become fashion faux pas - who are able to say they often times see people travelling in 70s flames? On the other side, men's fashion features a few staple things that can exist forever - which man is planning to keep an eye out of place with a good-quality, tailored suit, for example? Pick traditional pieces, colours and materials and you'll never look out-of-place.

Why traditional men's fashion is eternal

The basic man's suit has barely changed for over a hundred years. True, there are numerous varieties for various functions, but they are all popular in their search for a clever, sharp look for the wearer. The neat thing about classic fashion for men is that it's effectively elegant simply neat. A well-groomed lady will more often than not appear his sharpest in a well-tailored suit, and it is a testament to the design of such clothing. A match will be worn to work in many professions because of the professional search it provides to the person, instilling a sense of respect and confidence. Equally a suit will be utilized to several social events, like a tuxedo to a black-tie event. This incredible versatility which allows matches to be utilized in nearly all functions is what gives it its classic side and a lasting place in men's fashion.

Modern movements in classic men's style

Though basic men's styles will never be replaced, it's interesting to remember that shifts in men's fashion trends have brought particular basic garments back in fashion. The recognition of vintage clothing, especially, has brought back a wide-variety of classic designs into men's closets, such as that of the dandy guy. 'Dandy'is a term used to refer to men who dress yourself in a classic yet expensive way, placing value on appearance and working in a polished manner. This tendency for nearly'over-the-top'classic style for men is evident from events such as the'Tweed Run', wherever men and girls of all ages dress yourself in significantly Victorian-style clothing and decide to try the streets on vintage cycles - with lots of the men sporting impeccable mustaches! This is just one of several examples of research displaying the resurrection of such styles. Additionally, there are numerous sites on the web which give attention to gentlemanly type - such as'The Dandy Project'and'Dandyism'- as well as complete internet sites such as'The Art of Manliness'dedicated to giving articles on classic men's fashion and grooming.

In summary, though specific facets of common men's fashion could be brought back as new trends, the simple outfits that they are derived from will never slip out of fashion.

"All it takes certainly are a few simple costumes. And there's one key - the simpler the better." - Cary Grant
